Zero Tolerance

David Whiting quoted a colleague as saying, “Too many Christians have zero-tolerance for suffering.”  I think the Apostle Peter would agree and tweak the statement slightly.  “Too many Christians have zero-tolerance for suffering instead of zero-tolerance for sinning.”  Peter believed that sinning was worse than suffering and that suffering with the right perspective could help prevent sinning.

Since therefore Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves with the same way of thinking, for whoever has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, so as to live for the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for human passions but for the will of God.  1 Peter 4:1-2
