You hear it starting in childhood: Jesus loves me this I know for the Bible tells me so. It becomes a truth you believe in your head with repetition. But, as you journey with God, it becomes a truth you experience. God forgives me: He loves me. God gives me another chance: He loves me. God pursues me when I walk away: He loves me. God comforts me when no human delivered words pierce the grief: He loves me. God enjoys spending time with me: He loves me. God talks to me to challenge a wrong perspective I hold: He loves me. God gives me little gifts that prove He knows me intimately and cares enough to take the time to send it. Yesterday, it came in the form of two jars of homemade jam. The gift of a lover. A small, “I’m thinking about you” which reminds me – God loves me. That same God is your lover too.
