Today I got a reminder of a truth that is a comfort. I was reading one of the short devotionals I include in my quiet time and came across this:
The Israelites in the wilderness were continually exposed to change…. Yet they had an abiding home in their God…. They must go onward from place to place, continually changing, never having time to settle, and to say, “Now we are secure; in this place we shall dwell.” “Yet,” says Moses, “though we are always changing, Lord, thou hast been our dwelling-place throughout all generations.” …. My unmoving mansion of rest is my blessed Lord.… In the earth I wander, but in God I dwell in a quiet habitation. (Spurgeon, C. H. (1995). Morning and Evening: Daily Readings (February 27 AM). It seems that there is no part of my life that is not coping with change right now or where change is imminent. It’s really nice to remember that God does not change. My relationship with Him is secure. In Him I can find rest and peace amidst the chaos of change in my life. Isn’t it great how God takes care of His family?!
